We set off on the other side of the canal system and returned back to the coast for some more riding. On our way, our great Weber found an even greater Weber, but of course, size doesn't matter.
It's very pretty and relaxingriding through the dunes but once you've seen a few you have pretty much seen them all! We did have a strangely slow coffee experience in Katwijk, apparently no one in recent memory has wanted to have coffee outside and the search for paper cups brought coffee production to a halt. We saw this really cool e-trike though.
Once we were done with the Dunes we were on the outskirts of the Hague and we rode into the center for lunch. On the way in we stopped at the Peace Palace for a photo op. Very interesting sculpture/monument by us at lunch time and we also found this tribute to the little Dutch boy who stopped the leak in the dyke with his finger.
From there the ride to Delft is pretty much through town but we did take a detour through the Dutch Parliament.
Just as we got back on our bikes who walked in front of us? Mark Rutte, the Dutch Prime Minister!!!
Never shy, our ladies joined him for our official Xmas card photo this year! What a great guy, no bodyguards and he loves Canadians.
We are now at the Royal Bridges hotel in Delft and tomorrow is a day off the bikes to explore Delft and the Hague. Probably very welcome. So far, no rain but the atmosphere feels like that might change in the coming days.
The e-trike is pretty wild!
ReplyDeleteIt did look cool - but a bit claustrophobic maybe. Would have liked to see who got into it and how. Impressed by how many e-bikes they have here already.
